I'm 20 and have a receding hairline. I was thinking about getting a number 2.?

first off, consider a few things before you freak: how much has your hair line changed in the past few years? what did it look like originally? do you look good with a shaved head?
go through some old photos. while your hair may be thinning, it might not be as fast as you think. many times, you don't really notice it as soon as it starts to happen. it might have been that way for some time now, which indicates it'll be a while before you really go bald (giving you at least some relief). if it does become too bad, you might consider shaving your head (get some women's opinions, first). oh, another idea, if you're going bald from the front, try a messy look. if done right, it can look really good and is better than a standard come over. i do that with axe whatever (which is a paste).
here's the deal with hair loss products: rogaine and propecia can cause hair to stop thinning or even regrow hair, BUT if you ever stop taking them, new hair WILL FALL OUT! so you're going to spend about 60 years of your life taking them. there is one product that ';supposedly'; doesn't require you to keep using it once hair grows back, but even that takes a year and a couple hundred dollars or more (it's also fairly new, so check fda certifications and stuff).
here's another thing to consider: is going bald really that bad? don't get me wrong, i'm in the same boat you are, and don't really care for it. however (and a class full of women have told me this), yes there are sexy bald guys (just look at jason statham, he gets all sorts of play). so, not all is lost. if you can't stop it or cover it up, wear it with pride man, it gives you character.

Im 19 and its not that bad but im just asking as it appears that my hair is slowly creeping back lol. if theres any techniques such as diet, moisturising etc id be very appreciative!

Im afraid you can't stop a receding hairline but you can get a different style so the hair covers the hairline, kind of like a comb over for balding men but not as obvious. Hope that helps :)

DHT is a metabolic variant of Testosterone that causes hair to micronize and causes baldness, including receding hair lines -- which can start anytime from mid teens on -- depending on genetics. Blocking DHT effectively blocks male pattern baldness from occurring. That is what Propecia is all about. (please note that there are other, significantly more uncommon forms of baldness, what we are talking about here is male pattern baldness/receding hairline.)
It has nothing to do with hair length, never did, never will -- although once you are balding, short hair looks better -- in general long hair looks much better (IMHO) -- so if you have baldness in your genetic lines -- particularly your mother's line -- get a DHT blocker, and take it daily -- you will never have to worry.

I think having long hair can make a receeding hairling more obvious - especially if they have dark hair and pale skin. As the wind blows to shows up a flash of white against the dark surrounding hair.
Guys shouldn't have long hair, and if they are old enough to have a recceding hairline - they need to face up to the fact its time for a grown-up hair style.

Do you know if there will be a cure for a receding hairline in the next few years..........?
Im 23 and have started recdeing, so upset considering I ave never had a girlfriend and girls are a lot more interested in appearance than they say.Do you know if there will be a cure for a receding hairline in the next few years..........?
There already is one option, a hair transplant.
The best thing for a man to do with a receding hair line is to keep it short (mainly buzzed) and clean. It will look nice and won't be so obvious.
However, you could also consider growing your hair longer and having a bang of sorts, that way you can make your hair grow out to cover your forehead.
Or leave it short on the sides and have the top grow out.
