Try phoning the company of this hair straightener. They should be able to send you another one for free ( usually or for a small amount) . Paying a bit for a new one is better than going to the store and getting one. That's what I can suggest. Just phone the company, trust me . It could save you lots of money. Even if there are other people who know how to fix it. Do that but then phone so they can maybe even send another one! Why waste that? So ya... Good Luck!

well wet to straight ceramic straighteners are usually good try it out on your hair and see if your hair looks better don't think just becuase the other ones quicker it'll be better
PLEASE don't use it on wet hair. It will FRY your hair, b/c hair is most sensitive when wet. Also, if you are going to use a flat iron, it should be solid ceramic plates, not ceramic over metal. Sometimes you really have to dig to find out if it is or not. Good luck!

Sophia, it does make a difference if a hair appliance is ceramic or not. Ceramic flat irons and curling irons reduce static and eliminate frizz from the hair.





To answer your question, since you are natural I suggest using the hot comb over the flat iron. Unless the flat iron has a variable temperature control the hot comb will do just fine. Make sure your stylist uses a heat protectant on your hair no matter what you choose.

Your hair sounds pretty damaged. I would kind of hold off in getting the flat iron because it won't solve your problems. I mean you can get it if you want to but I just wanted to inform you that please do not use it on the highest setting. That would make your hair worse. Believe my because my hair was all kinds of fried.





To nurture my hair back to health and grow out the damage, I pretty much deep conditioned my hair and restrict my use of heat styling products, such as blowdryers, flat irons, etc. I relied more on hooded dryers and wet rollersets to style my hair. Then I gradually cut away the damaged hair. I also started to relax my hair every four months, since I could get away with it. Over time, my relaxers started to take better and no more overlapping.

i would recommend a CHI flat iron for you. i have been a hairstylist for over 20 years, and i love them. i find that the hair is silky and shiny when i am done, and i can use it on any type of hair. another great brand if babyliss,and they have great ceramic irons. either of these brands are worth the money. i would also recommend using a flat iron spray----go very lightly with it---just a fine mist. this will protect your hair from the heat, but if used properly, wll not make your hair feel sticky. good luck, and forget the straightening iron!!! they are hair killers!!!

I've done a lot of research on different flat iron's but not many websites site whether their product is made with pure ceramic plates. I know for a fact that FHI Runway and PAUL MITCHELL use 100% ceramic plates but I'd really like to know if there are any other brands I should look into. CHI's are only ceramic COATED. I'm not interested in them, I've used it before and it makes the hair around my face get split ends and I do use hair product for heat defense.

The name of the flat irons are ION (sally's carries them...on sale this month for 59.99)!!!! People often suggest CHI which are great but the ION's does the same thing for lost cost! Also, I use Silk Elements (Heat Protection Spray) The trick to using a protection spray is make sure you spray your ends. The spray is to protect your hair. I use Redken Heat Glide when I DO straighten my hair(which is like once a year lol). I apply two squirts before I airdry(when my hair is wet) then after it's dry before I'm about to flatiron i apply one and a half squirts. Make sure your hair is very clean before you flatiron and don't apply a lot of products. Just apply a good moisturizier(i use NTM Silk-Touch LeaveIn) and the heat protectant, focusing on your ends.



a heat protectant works by coating your hair, protecting it from both uv rays and heat from heat appliances.

NO, anything you do to your hair can damage it, whether it be heat, dye, perm or straighten even brushing your hair can damage it. If you use conditioners and certain hair products they can protect you rhair and help restore damage but nothing can eliminate it completly. All sources of heat applied to your hair can cause damage, But yes. Ceramic ones cause Less damage than metal. Ceramic ones allow for steam, whereas metal ones do not. I purchased a Paul Mitchel Chi from ebay and it was the best 100 bucks I ever spent. My hair looks amazing after using it. All the professionals at salons use that kind and it really does look great. All will damage because of the intensity of the heat. Good brands are Rusk, Chi, %26amp; Paul Mitchell. Rusk is a bit less expensive and works great and it is more comfortable on your hand. SEDU! I have tried the Chi, the Solia, the MaxiGlide, not to mention Gold-N-Hot, and have had nothing but success with the Sedu flat iron. The plates are tourmaline/ceramic, you can control the temperature, and the iron is not heavy. I have 4a/3c hair (super curly, medium coarse) hair, put the iron on the 3rd or 2nd highest setting, and it straightens AND silkens my hair with one swoop. I have not yet experienced any severe damage (of course, anytime you apply heat to your hair, you receive damage of some sort, but my hair is still healthy, shiny, and I don't trim my ends more than usual).



The Sedu isn't cheap; I bought mine from folica.com for $115, but I've had it for almost two years now with zero problems.



I have a tourmaline curling iron I bought from Walgreen's or CVS (about $13.00), and I'm happy with it.



No matter what iron you get, heat protection and keeping your hair sufficiently moisturized is the key to keeping your hair from frying.

Haha! No such thing exist. Anytime you put heat on your hair your damaging it. Ceramic flat irons, curling irons, hair dryers it all equals damage.

hm.. the gold plated ones are the best..they heat up quickly and won't fry your hair, but you can also get the ones that'll dry your hair and straighten it at the same time..those might be good too.

and you can get them almost anywhere...wal-mart, sears, and alot of the salons

My flat iron is baby bliss, u have 2 buy it at the salon n i think they have curling irons buy that brand too. but u should put something in your hair to protect your hair from being fried before u iron it anyway.

Will the paul mitchell ceramic flat iron damage my fine hair?

I just bought the paul mitchell ceramic flat iron. I called the company and they told me that it will not damage my hair. I am really scared because I used to straighten my hair when i was younger and it burned my hair badly. I was previously using the hot tools medal flat iorn but i was told that ceramic plates create negative ions that cause heat protection against damaging your hair becuase only possitive ions damage your hair and that ceramic plates wont cause any damage.





What does everyone out there think about flat irons?

Yes, its true that most irons these days have ceramic plates that emit negative ions and far infrared rays which protect the hair and seal in color, moisture and shine. Hot Tools and Paul Mitchell irons arent that great. Chi and T3 break easily, they're made in China so you can just imagine what of hazardous materials they might use. I really like the Magic In Flat Iron by Create. Its not so much a known company but my stylist recomended that iron to me and I'm really amazed with the results. I have fine long hair and its really gentle. It fights frizz and gets my hair perfect, shiny and straight in 10 minutes. Its a little pricy but its worth the extra money.Will the paul mitchell ceramic flat iron damage my fine hair?

It is a good iron and will probably get your hair straight with no problem. The only issue is that it has a fixed temperature setting of 370 degrees so you can't adjust it. For that reason, I would go with another CHI iron or one by BaByliss, GHD, or FHI.
