Will my hair still get damaged if I use a 2'; ceramic flat iron 1 a week and wrap it at night?

I have natural african-american hair thats just about shoulder length.Will my hair still get damaged if I use a 2'; ceramic flat iron 1 a week and wrap it at night?
i dont think so......just dont use the flat iron every day and use a heat protectant spray before you use it
