Since birth, I've had a really strange hairline. On one side it's completely normal, but on the other, there's a patch where I just don't have any hair. It's the part just to the right of the front-centre of my hair and it looks just like a receded hairline - but only on one side. So basically it makes my hair look really unsymmetrical and difficult to style. Do you think a hair transplant could fix this? I've tried cutting it short and growing it long and it's still the same. Hairstles for receding hairlines?
OK I'm a 22 year old dude who's hair is receding. I've got a pretty good widow's peak going.
Can anyone suggest any good hairstyles that will go well with a receding hairline?
I was thinking of getting my hair cut like Matt Damon's in these pictures. I think they would complement a receding hairline well. BTW what is his hairstyle called?

If you want to go with the haircut in the pictures, tell them you want a modified caesar that sticks up in the front. Tell them to do a 2-3 fade up the sides, and finger-length or just longer on the top.
If you want the top to look kinda ';choppy'; , tell them to texture with a razor in the top

Seems like it would work. You have that one Benny Hinn guy, who started out with what I would have called the worst comb over of the millenia. Now I think he has some sort of persian wool hair plugs. Receding Hairlines...?
Im 18 years old, and my hairline is starting to recede. This is common in my family, even as my mother shows symptoms also. I don't want to loose my hair and its getting worse ever year. Is there any recommended hair loss treatments, cause I heard about Propecia which is FDA approved but doesn't work for receding hairlines at the temple.

I'm sorry to hear your problem, my fiance started going bald when he was your age-more of a receding hair line.
Anyway, don't wear a hat as much as you do-cap+sweat=clogged pores and hair loss. If you want your hair to grow back, you might want to check into Rogaine or some other hair regrowth product.
Sorry to say kiddo, but you're kinda screwed. Not trying to be negative, but that's when I started balding as well. I'm 25 now, and most people think I'm 35.
Realistically speaking, there is little you can do to stop it. However, there are things you can do to lessen it. Vitamin A is now you're worst enemy, remember that. It leads to increased hair loss, so limit you're intake to about 75% of the daily recommended amount, because you also don't want vitamin deficiency. Also, cut out any hair products you can. They will weaken the hair you do have and damage you're scalps ability to retain follicles.
Now, after you're 21 (the end of your last growth spurt), you can look into hair products. You don't want to use them before, simply because they can affect normal growth patterns in your body. Rogain's not all that great. While you use it, you retain hair, but only because it's chemically supplementing the follicles. This will have the affect of actually decreasing the amount of chemicals your body naturally sends to your hair, so when you stop using it you'll end up loosing more hair than what you would have without it when the chemicals are no longer there to keep it alive. There are pills that act just the same, all it does is trick your body, it doesn't actually repair the cause. Provillus is actually a really good product, but don't use it until after you've stopped growing. Don't need pesky side affects cutting an inch or two off you're height, girls like tall guys.

I'm sorry to hear your problem, my fiance started going bald when he was your age-more of a receding hair line.
Anyway, don't wear a hat as much as you do-cap+sweat=clogged pores and hair loss. If you want your hair to grow back, you might want to check into Rogaine or some other hair regrowth product.
Sorry to say kiddo, but you're kinda screwed. Not trying to be negative, but that's when I started balding as well. I'm 25 now, and most people think I'm 35.
Realistically speaking, there is little you can do to stop it. However, there are things you can do to lessen it. Vitamin A is now you're worst enemy, remember that. It leads to increased hair loss, so limit you're intake to about 75% of the daily recommended amount, because you also don't want vitamin deficiency. Also, cut out any hair products you can. They will weaken the hair you do have and damage you're scalps ability to retain follicles.
Now, after you're 21 (the end of your last growth spurt), you can look into hair products. You don't want to use them before, simply because they can affect normal growth patterns in your body. Rogain's not all that great. While you use it, you retain hair, but only because it's chemically supplementing the follicles. This will have the affect of actually decreasing the amount of chemicals your body naturally sends to your hair, so when you stop using it you'll end up loosing more hair than what you would have without it when the chemicals are no longer there to keep it alive. There are pills that act just the same, all it does is trick your body, it doesn't actually repair the cause. Provillus is actually a really good product, but don't use it until after you've stopped growing. Don't need pesky side affects cutting an inch or two off you're height, girls like tall guys.
It sucks being young and loosing your hair, trust me I know. However, as you get older, women will start to appreciate it. Cultivate it and learn how to use it to your advantage, that's the best thing you can do. Don't be self conscience about it, it's natural. When you get older, learn how to flaunt it. There is an advantage to male pattern baldness, noone ever cards you and assumes you're older than what you really are, and thusly grant you more respect than what they normally would.
Lastly, start driving ';old man'; cars. Quite a few of them are ';sleepers';, so you don't have to sacrifice performance. With the car and the balding, as it gets worse, cops get more lienent.

well well its finally got me folks, the good old receding hairline is here to stay. I buzzed it short but its knocked my confidence quite a bit. A month or two later she tells me she found this cool stuff that made her hair come back in... it was carrot oil. It makes your hair come in superfast. I don't know if your just wearing you hair in a lot of pony tail after combing and brushing your hair back and if you are you should stop a.s.a.p. If you are just try a head band for a while to keep the hair out of you face but avoid extreme brushing/combing. Ok oil- you can just dab it on/not soak. good luck

But a head with a receding hairline, or with almost no hair, can be quite sexy and you can do so many sensual things to that head.... Some very sexy people are bald or have receding hairlines (many men eventually have receding hairlines and women still find them yummy). Can this really happen? Lately I've been hearing a lot of stories about this happen. A friend of mine told me about when his brother worked for transit and was required to wear a hat, then his hairline receded. After he left that job his hairline came back exactly the way it used to be and it never receded again 30 years after that until he died in March of this year. Therapy -- the earlier the better. I have seen many peoples lives ruined because of it -- right or wrong. Go ahead and try some of the so-called cures, but don't expect a miracle. Learn to accept yourself and your body and your life will be much better -- ';when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!'; Jojoba oil may be something to look into, but most hair loss is just due to genetics.

What is a good hair cut/style for a man with a big head and thinning hair/receding hairline?
I'm asking you guys because every time my hubby goes to get a haircut they give him a really stupid looking one. It always makes his head look bigger and they'll cut it short but give him this longer fringe in the front, I don't know if they're trying to hide the receding hairline (it's still in the early stages, it's not bad by any means) and to me it just looks plain ridiculous.
So there it is. He has straight, dark hair. Thinner hair, but not too thin. Early stages of receding hairline. LARGE head. He wears a mustache and a goatee/beard thingy. He has a weaker type chin, so the goatee/beard thingy balances out the rest of his face.

Not at all, it's just the pattern your hair grows in. Don't worry your hairline doesn't determine whether you will go bald or not, however other factors will. But i do know some people with your type of hairline that are not bald. So you should be fine.

I know it sounds weird but I have shoulder length hair and right now I have to part it to one side due to my hairline and it looks ok, but I want some thing a little shorter. Also, start on Propecia or generic finasteride. You can get Proscar in 5mg and cut it in 4 pieces, saving money. Nizoral shampoo is supposed to help as well, it's cheap and can't hurt.
grow it long and get a combover lol , or a wig , or use that leimo hair home grown thing lol, or just shave it all off, or just dw bout it and make the most of what you have other than that theres not much else yu can do sorry

Hi. I'm 16 years old and my hair is really thin, with a very bad hairline. I can't do anything with my hair such as spiking it up because I just have a bunch of strands at the front of my hairline that are only an inch in length and make my scalp very visible, also for some reason they can't grow any longer, thus unable to be groomed in any direction.
According to my mother the baldness gene comes from the mother's side and everyone on her side has good hair, my grandfather, my grandmother, my aunts and cousins and everyone on my mother's side has avoided baldness. Even my brother has thick hair, but I seem to have gotten screwed, because my hair is very straight and thin while my brother has a widow's peak with a natural wave.
I was wondering if I'm doomed to be bald or if I just have a bad hairline, and if there's any reason for my hairline and anything I can do about it. Is it possible to have thin hair and a receding hairline while avoiding baldness?

It's possible, and even likely if you're a white male, to at some point develop a so-called maturing hairline, which means that your low teenage hairline creeps up about an inch and maybe an inch and a half near the temples. You don't mention whether you are losing hair (usually you see it on your hands in the shower, on the pillow, in the comb, etc.) or if you have always had this really bad hairline. It is normal for most caucasian men to develop this type of hairline during their twenties or sometimes earlier. If it is only this that is happening, you are not doomed to become bald. Do a search on ';maturing hairline'; for more info.

And how? My heart hurts, I want a reallly pretty girlfriend. Yesterday I saw some guy with an extremely hot wife (not just girlfriend). He goes to my gym, and I would have never thought he had it. Believe it or not, looks make up about 20% of attraction only, the other eighty is all things that you can change, presentation, personality, the way you talk, the way you move, your style, all of which can be changed. I have seen some incredibly amazing things since I've started coaching people about relationships. A client of mine was a 40 year old overweight balding dude, who had a thing for long legged blondes half his age. Guess what, he's with two, and yes, they know about each other. because he stopped being a 40 year old overweight balding man, and became this stylish, slightly overstuffed mysterious clubowner bad*** in a suit type stereotype, who absolutely oozed sex appeal. All because, he didn't change his looks, he changed the way he presented them. So yeah, you're more than capable of getting the chick of your dreams.

obviously you are very superficial and the chance of you getting a hot chick is only if you are rich and she's dumb.
If all you want is a ';hot chick';, maybe you will get one but I doubt she'd stick around very long if that's the only reason you want to be with her. Nobody wants to constantly be the ';face'; of the relationship and will realize that you only want her around as compensation for your own short-comings.

It shouldn't be all about hottness. But anyway, short guys get girls too. You arn't that small. Now, if you were only 4'12 people might look at you a bit strange if you had this tall gorgeous model girlfriend, but you can easily find a girl suited to you that won't care about your height.

It's harder for low profile men to get attention, but it's not impossible. And after you get her attention what will she see? Hopefully a man with confidence who doesn't tie his feelings of security to his height or hairline.
It also helps to look for women who are mature. Immature people are more hung up on a very strict visual on who they want to be with. As people grow up they are smarter about that.

It shouldn't be all about hottness. But anyway, short guys get girls too. You arn't that small. Now, if you were only 4'12 people might look at you a bit strange if you had this tall gorgeous model girlfriend, but you can easily find a girl suited to you that won't care about your height.

It also helps to look for women who are mature. Immature people are more hung up on a very strict visual on who they want to be with. As people grow up they are smarter about that.

Here's the lowdown I have attatched a photo of my current hairline, I am 16, fairly healthy eat a normal diet. But only about two years ago did it occur to me I have a very pointed hairline. I am very sure it has not always been this way and wondering if you have any tips to help me restore a flatter more normal hairline!

There are many products out there to boost hair growth (I think there are some shampoos). But the best thing to do is to ask your doctor as they would know the most accurate solution.

My mom wont listen to me about my receding hairline.?
I keep telling my mom about my receding hairline and she just keeps telling me not to be so stupid and that it's supposed to recede when I know it's not. Hi, Im a 20 yr old Black male. A few months ago my hairline was disappearing. Now its pushed back alot. The front of my hairline is in tact its more of the corners. Its like widows peak baldness. I just turned 20 and starting noticing probably 2 months ago that my hairline was either receding or was geniously crafted into the shape of mickey mouse (i don't know why it would be like that, but that's besides the point!)
Freaking out, I decided to do soemthign about, try to ';fix' it, if in fact it was a receding hairline, at its earliest stages before I became bald (which I'm not but just for fear that I would.)
So, I heard about saw palmetto and picked up a 100 count container of them, each having i think 350mg per capsule.
I've only been taking it about 3 weeks, but haven't seen much results. My hairline is exactly the same, and rumor has it that it's supposed to restore hair growth, and somehow block DHT. Am I an idiot for trying a non-mainstream, non-Rogaine approach?

I think you just have a high forehead and you don't have very thick hair. Not much can be done, you might need some layers in your hair, that would help with making bangs look better and your hair would look more full. I just turned 20 and starting noticing probably 2 months ago that my hairline was either receding or was geniously crafted into the shape of mickey mouse (i don't know why it would be like that, but that's besides the point!)
Freaking out, I decided to do soemthign about, try to ';fix' it, if in fact it was a receding hairline, at its earliest stages before I became bald (which I'm not but just for fear that I would.)
So, I heard about saw palmetto and picked up a 100 count container of them, each having i think 350mg per capsule.
I've only been taking it about 3 weeks, but haven't seen much results. My hairline is exactly the same, and rumor has it that it's supposed to restore hair growth, and somehow block DHT. Am I an idiot for trying a non-mainstream, non-Rogaine approach?

Im 21 years old and i feel like my hairline is receding in the temple regions of my scalp. Im pretty sure it is judging by the fact that im 21 and ive never noticed my hairline being that far back before, which leads me to believe that its definately receding. Ive heard about DHT blockers, and Ive also read that Rogaine works fairly well, but really i have no idea if i even need to use rogaine or a DHT blocker.

Good question. Rogaine and Propecia only work on thinning on the top and rear of the head (male pattern baldness). There is no way to prevent receeding unless if you dye your hair, Stop! If you use products on your hair, wash your hair before going to bed. And don't stress out about it, stress causes hair loss too.
There are cosmetics you can use to give the illusion of a full hairline. Eyeshadow works quite well (lots of celebrities do this), and even those spray on colored hairsprays, you should find them at certain drugstores or costume shops.
You should consult a doctor if you are really concerned about it. Perhaps they could perscribe something that is right for you.

Does Rogain Foam work on receding hairlines?
Just wondering if it worked on receding hairlines. I have a small bald spot on the back of my head, but how about receding hairlines?

You can also ask your doctor if he's comfortable with prescribing Finasteride 5mg. It's the same thing as Propecia, but it's 5mg instead of 1mg. You'd just have to be careful when it comes to taking it, and go over with your doctor the safest way to take it (because taking 5mg at once could be bad).
i have been on rogain therapy for almost 15 years,,, it works. i started using it when i was 20. i will be using it for a very long time or until i decide that having hair on my head isn't important to me anymore. i have 2 brothers and one of them is 6 years younger than me and bald. a receding hairline and the bald spot on the back of your head is classic male pattern baldness. rogain will most likely work for you too, your just on it forever, you cant stop unless you want to lose the hair.

What can I do about my receding hairline?
Okay, so I'm 40 yrs old and - call it vanity I guess - but I've gotten a little self-conscious about my receding hairline. Mrs.Dave K tries to reassure me that it isn't that noticeable especially since my other striking features are sure to draw people's attention away from it. I think she's just trying to be nice and doesn't want to hurt my feelings. I could use some honest input here. I'm afraid my anxiety over this could lead to drinking or maybe even an eating disorder. Do YOU think it is that noticeable??

ok so im 16 and i have a pretty bad receding hairline. i want to go to the doctors soon but id thought i would ask it on here first. i do where hats almost everyday. i do shampoo and condition everyday. my relationship with my girlfriend used to be stress full. but i have always have had a big for head. my father is bald as well. i was just wondering if its my family? or my diet? or im sick or something? or maybe im just unlucky. its really bothering my because i have long hair, mostly in the front and i absolutely love my hair and if i go bald im gunna miss it. any ideas? thank you in advance!!!Im 16 and i have a receding hairline? what should i do?

I hate to say it but the chances are if your father is bald you will be too. It can skip generations but in your case its unlikely considering you may already be seeing some hair loss. Talk to your father about what age he was when he started losing his hair %26amp; ask him if he lost it from his hairline 1st or his crown. Compare symptoms, if he did start losing hair from his hairline there's a strong possibilityy you will go bald but not for a long time so don't worry for now as stress can speed up the balding process.
