Do you know if there will be a cure for a receding hairline in the next few years..........?

Im 23 and have started recdeing, so upset considering I ave never had a girlfriend and girls are a lot more interested in appearance than they say.Do you know if there will be a cure for a receding hairline in the next few years..........?
There already is one option, a hair transplant.

The best thing for a man to do with a receding hair line is to keep it short (mainly buzzed) and clean. It will look nice and won't be so obvious.

However, you could also consider growing your hair longer and having a bang of sorts, that way you can make your hair grow out to cover your forehead.

Or leave it short on the sides and have the top grow out.

I hate to sound shallow but with men, they are judged on height and hair. I think you would look younger if you smile. If you can check out hair club for men. I think they do wonderful work. Shave your head if you can't. But just be happy.

You first need to see a doc to find out why you are losing your hair. There could be a medical reason. A doc may prescribe something to stimulate hair growth. If there is no medical reason try Rogaine for women. Also, stay away from hair products that will clog the hair follicles. You want to stimulate the hair follicles with massage. My hair loss at this point isn't too bad, meaning that other people don't notice...yet. But I know I need to start doing something about it now because every woman on my mom's side of the family is going bald (not jut thinning!).

You need to do whatever you need to do to make you feel good about yourself. Suicide is not an option. And it is not fair for others here to criticize you. Your feelings may not be right or wrong, but they are yours and you are entitled to them.

I saw a young man yesterday about early twenties, with long brown hair on the sides of his head and a really bald dome on top. If his hair was red, he would have looked like a natural clown. MY heart went out to this guy. How he has to look at himself everyday must be really painful. Without a picture or better description , none of us webbers are going to know the severity of your hairline recession, but if its enough to drive you to suicide , I would probably put you in the same category as the man I saw. Look, have you tried Minoxidil? Have you talked to your doctor? Have you gone to see the hair by hair transplant guys? By all means , try all of these things. I don't know your age but a lot of young guys even shave their head of hair getting a fresh interesting look kinda butch.

Besides, any people loses hair with age. Baldness just is a genetic issue and as you know nothing is possible, so try to think of hair as a transient ornament equally as the beard.

I solved the problem by shaving it all off and i didn`t even have a receding hair line.

I have a nephew by marriage and he had the transplant and now wishes he hadn't done it because now he has to take care of the hair and he now says he liked it better bald. Bald is in so I suggest you shave the rest off and go with it. Look at all the celebs who deliberately go bald. I agree with the previous post. You should see a dermatalogist. I am a woman and was losing my hair, its really depressing, but I went and he recommended minoxidil a generic version of rogaine. I took almost 2 months for my hair stop falling in chunks like it used to. It stills fall out, but not that much. My ponytail is know like 1/4 of what it used to be, but I'm content it didn't all fall out..Please see a doctor. There are a lot of remedies. Hair transplant is a good choice, but your doctor might have some other choices for you...Hope you see one. Good luck..

When i was in the military all i said was im gonna grow my hair long when i get out. But i couldnt take it so now i shave my head every other day i take a blade to it. Now i cant stand to have a lil hair on it. I would love to get laser removal for the hair on my head. So dont sweat the small stuff their is more important things than hair. But if u feel hair defines u then go to your PCP and ask him about options for u and your head. Good Luck

Okay so this could only really mean 3 things :

1. genetics - (its in your DNA that your bound to have a receding hairline.)

2. your using bad hair hair products that take out your hair ( tacky gel 4 example)

3. you could possibly have a receding hairline because of a hairband or some hair accessories always on your hairline during the day or while you sleep.

I'm not a woman and I'm definitely way over 24. However I've been slowly losing my hair since grade school. (that is slow) Got my grandfather's hair-loss gene. start with the 6mm and see if you like it. when you are buzzing you are going to have to go slowly to make sure you get all the hairs. you will notice if you go too fast when buzzing you will see longer and sometimes little short hairs that werent cut. when completed rub you hand over your hair and make sure it all feels even.

Not much you can do for a receded hair-line other than transplants, which I would NOT recommend. Tying your hair too tightly can theoretically cause hairloss but I'm not sure it was the cause of yours. Just style it forward.
See a doctor. A number of medical conditions can cause you to lose hair. That would be your first line of defense. There are also Rogaine shampoos and treatments for women, available in the drug store. If it's only from tight pony tails, then it should grow back. Be gentle with styling and brushing that area. Maybe cut long, angled, side-swept bangs if you want to hide it.

Your father only provided a Y chromosome for you. The baldness gene is on the X chromosome. Your mother has two Xs and one of her Xs was okay, the other was not and you got the one that wasn't okay. Washing your hair every day is way too much, you shouldn't wash it more than twice or three times a week, also your receeding line is probably genetic and has nothing to do with the way you take care of your hair. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop genetic balding, but there's a guy out there who said that exercising your scalp muscles five to ten minutes a day everyday when you start to receed can prevent balding and allow new hair growth, it did work for some people and didn't for others though ! Try a peanut butter solution. it's from a movie.. but trust me, it really works! I tried it on my armpits once and now they won't stop growing!!!! :( It's kind of annoying... I shave it in the morning and right whenever I get dressed my armpit hairs are like down to my waist!!!! So I kinda gave up shaving them and I just braid them now. I think the question is totally subjective.

Your hair looks thicker when it is shorter. You don't have to shave it down to the skin to get a good-looking hair cut. My ex started having a receding hairline at age 25. His hair was already pretty thin when we got married a couple years before. His hair looked so much better when I got electric trimmers and cut it to one length, tapered the back, and ';cleaned up'; his neck and around his ears. We're divorced now, but he continues to have his hair done the same way. Once you get it cut shorter, you'll see the difference. Look at celebrities and sports stars sporting the bald look eg Michael Jordan, Jason Statham, Vince Diesel, Samuel Jackson, etc. A lot of sexy girls will shag them and that's not because they don't have hair. They got a lot of personality and confidence to get them to where they are. I had a mildly receding hairline (just a little at the temples). On a whim, I decided a change was in order. So I shaved it all off.

It will take you awhile to get used to it. For a few weeks, it will look as though your head had just escaped from an underground dungeon... very pale. If you're used to hair, you'll definately feel cold at the top of your head... especially at night. For I while, I wore a knit cap in the evenings (in the middle of summer).

Many women find the shaved look sexy. But true sexiness comes from within... you have to exude your inner sexiness. That is to say, be confident about who you are and how you look. Women are like jungle animals... they'll pick up on any hesitation or lack of confidence.

I'm not really sure what helps stop hair loss to be honest, my hair started to thin so I brushed it a lot thinking it would help. It may have, but I think it is the fact that I stopped eating wheat from china that helped the most (chinese wheat noodles were making mine and my mom's hair fall out so we switched to american wheat) Just be aware of your diet, don't eat a lot of greasy foods like fast foods or fried foods, don't drink excessive alcohol and get regular exercise, drink plenty of water.

I don't think you can really stop it if it is genetic, but you can minimize it and slow it down with things like saw palmetto and Rogaine, and lastly there's always hair transplants where they take hair from a fruitful area of your scalp and surgically implant it where you need it, this of course comes with risks and complications of it's own and you should research the practice as well as your doctor before you decide on it.

Or you can just shave it all off, I plan to do that if I get a bald spot, i'd rather be all skin than patchy

I don't find guys with shaved heads attractive, balding or not. If you're thinning up top, grow some facial hair to make up for it. Girls love facial hair (at least I do). This is so depressing. It seems to be receding slighly at the front and there more I stress about it,the more I recede. Is there anything I can do to stop it? Im pretty sure its stress related, is there any chance it could grow back?Receding hairline at 23, is there anything I can do..........?

Hi! You shouldn't let it bother you so much. This happens to a lot of people. It's not stress related and it's not alopecia areata. It's most likely your genetics or from abuse to your hairline in the past. Since you are so young you will have balding earlier on. That is no way to reverse it but there is something that can be done about it. 1, pay a visit to your local dermatologist to see if it may be something more serious. After that you can have implants done which are effective but very costly or you can use rogaine (which the Dr. may suggest to you or offer you a prescription for something similar) which is about 40 bucks for a small bottle. This works very well but once you start using it, it is a permanent part of your hair life. Once you stop using it, your hair will fall back out. Be careful when and if choosing to use products like rogaine and also be careful with thing like durags or caps that may be too tight and pull the hair away ffrom the forehead. Phil, I wish I could help but unfortunately this problem is a genetic one - you chose the wrong parents! My son is having the same problem at 25 and he manages to minimise it by using different hairstyles. The most successful ones appear to be lifting the hair with gel when it is short, and wearing it brushed forward when it is longer.

Stress probably has very little to do with it - it's just happening at the same time as your stress problems. Just learn to live with it and cope as best you can. Be comforted by the fact that men who are balding have higher testosterone levels than men who are not!

Stress doesn't make your hairline receed, it's probably genetic alopecia. According to this guy, yes it can grow back, it did work for him, but it also gave zero results to other guys.
If it's stress related you need to identify what is causing the stress and resolve that. And your hair should grow back but it may just be natural hair loss. Sorry

Just because you have a hair line that is further back on your head it does not mean that it is receding. It sounds like this is just your natural hair line because you've had it since childhood. I wouldn't worry too much about losing all of your hair, but if you are worried maybe you should ask some questions to the men in your family that are bald to see when they started losing their hair.
Do you know what receding means? you are basically saying your hair has been balding ever since you had it which makes no sense. A receding hairline is when your hair is moving backwards and will never grow back. otherwise this is possible the gene is recessive that's why it didn't show on dad and it happens to people your age all the time.

Try to not use conditioner on your hair as much, because that might be the reason why your hair is so oily. I'm not sure why your hairline is receding, it shouldn't be, but with bangs people wouldn't be able to tell. Are you losing a lot of hair in the shower or when you brush your hair? Your best bet would just to avoid as much hair loss and damage as possible, that means no blow drying or straightening.

To avoid oily hair you should wash it often, I wash mine every 1-2 days. Make sure you buy a shampoo and conditioner that says it's specifically for oily hair.

I can't think of any solutions to make your hair thicker/more volumised, because they all involve damaging your hair lol. That includes putting volumising mousse + blow drying at the roots, and light teasing + hairspray at the roots. You can always try these methods if you don't mind getting your hair damaged a little.

My husband had that problem and my hairdresser suggested his start shampooing with a Jojoba shampoo. She said that wax can build up on the scalp and clog the pores. He did and in a few weeks new fuzz began appearing and he actually had some hair grow back.

He can save on hair cuts and shampoo if he does become bald. I've recently started using the liquid Rogaine, which is messier (but less expensive) than the foam. The bright side to Rogaine is that the results seem to be more effective on younger guys, so I'd consider it. It hasn't been approved for treating receding hairlines, but from my experience I find that it is helping.

I've heard some men use both Rogaine and Propecia for maximum effect, but I'm not too sure about the latter.

I'd recommend you do some web research on the subject, but you'll probably get the most from your doctor.
I started balding when I was 20 and rogaine slowed the balding process a little bit, but things are still progressing. You can try propecia, if you're one of those lucky ones you might get some regrowths. And of course you can try one of those natural shampoos that helps your hair growth. There are a lot of products out that that claims to regrow hair and about 99% of them do not work. However, I'm sure 1% of them will somehow work on your hair. Good luck looking for that 1% before you loses everything. I'm 23 now and i think I couldnt find that 1%, so I shaved my head today.

have you tried WEN. i used it for the last two months, it completely stopped all hair breaking, made it pretty thick and it repairs everything. its more like medication on the hair than a shampoo
Well that IS a bad situation:( Something that might help is putting ure hair in a ponytail less. R u making ure ponytail too tight? if so that can cause hair breakage and thinning especially in the front causing the look of a ';receding hairline';.

Go to the Doctor asap. You don't wanna loose anymore hair at this age. See what they can do. if not infest in a taupe
I hope its just a hair condition and not a male patterned baldness. If I were you, I would stop washing my hair everyday, and cut your hair shorter, so its easier to take care of. Try to use a shampoo thats more natural, if you want to you can use rogaine and all those medications. I'm 23, I have a receding hairline since I was 20. I used rogaine and it slowed the process, but its still progressing. I used a few different shampoo some gives me the look of fuller hair but the hair is still losing. I bought propecia but i never tried it because it seems dangerous. I just feel bad for you because you have to face this when you're so young. I'm sure you're depressed. Just try your best, try everything you can to keep your hair. If they still want to leave you, there's nothing you can do, just let go. You hair is like your gf.
