Receding hairline and still young.Solutions?

I started noticing my receding hairline about two years ago. I know it's not heredity because my relatives still all have a head full of hair. I know for a definite fact that the reason behind this is due to the fact that as a kid I used to tie my hair into a ponytail really tightly. I've lost about half an inch, but it's stopped receding now. I'm probably blowing it way out of porportion than it really is, but I still would like to know how to get that hair back. Girls...any solutions?Receding hairline and still young.Solutions?
I would see a doctor just to be on the safe side and then maybe try some of the really good over the counter treatments. You have to look at it this way, for some people a receded hairline is natural. Look at Christina Ricci:

If you're hair isn't too far back you could get bangs. Either full of a nice sidebang. They worked for her:

Not much you can do for a receded hair-line other than transplants, which I would NOT recommend. Tying your hair too tightly can theoretically cause hairloss but I'm not sure it was the cause of yours. Just style it forward.
See a doctor. A number of medical conditions can cause you to lose hair. That would be your first line of defense. There are also Rogaine shampoos and treatments for women, available in the drug store. If it's only from tight pony tails, then it should grow back. Be gentle with styling and brushing that area. Maybe cut long, angled, side-swept bangs if you want to hide it.
