What's the best way to deal with a receding hairline?

I'm gettin pretty upset and depressed over it lately, and I know i shouldn't.

But you all know where the beginnings of a receding hairline start - at the crown area, near the sides.

Sucks so bad. What's a good way to cope with it? I'm thinking about growing my hair out long to cover up, but I am also thinking about cutting it short to minimize the appearance - but the problem with that is when I cut my hair cut, my cowlicks show up really bad and my hair grows back in looking all funky. What's the best way to deal with a receding hairline?
Sorry but you'll just have to get used to it.

Acutally, don't put too much importance on your hair, it is not a measure of what kind of person you are.

Look at how many guys are shaving their heads now days. Sheesh they could grow hair if they wanted to but shave it off. There have been several bald men who had major rolls in movies. Yul Brynner, Telly Savalas, The guy who played the captain on the newest star trek.

If you really are self conscious about it try Rogaine or ask a hair specialist.

I went through a stage where it bothered me too, but somehow I just learned to accept it as a natural part of myself.

Hope that helps......What's the best way to deal with a receding hairline?
Just accept it and get a buzz cut. Unless you spend a fortune to combat it, you are going to lose it.
Following are the vitamins required for hair growth:

An interesting fact about Vitamin B: Certain experiments were conducted with rats and they were fed with food that lacked magnesium supplements. It was found that they lost their hair in bunches and when they were provided with a low biotin diet they turned hairless. But to the surprise of all, their hair returned when they were fed with food rich in Vitamin B. Similar studies were conducted on men and it was found that Vitamin B enriches the quality of hair. The body also requires Vitamin A. Fatty acids such as primrose oil, flaxseed oil or salmon oil need to be consumed for enhancing hair growth.

Vitamin E is meant for stimulating the oxygen intake in the body and improves the blood circulation. If there is proper blood circulation, hair growth is enhanced. Vitamin C assists the normal functioning of capillaries that carries the blood to the scalp. Even zinc is an important supplement, which should be consumed as it assists hair growth.

Biotin is necessary for hair growth. There are many sources of biotin such as brewer's yeast, brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. It is present in some shampoos, so you can use shampoos, which contain biotin. It is advised to consult a physician before taking any vitamins or medications for hair growth.

1.Massage the scalp for 10 to 15 minutes after bathing with water. This stimulates the blood circulation and strengthens the hair follicles in the scalp.

2.Massage the scalp and hair with coconut milk or Aloe Vera gel. Leave it for hour, then rinse with warm water. Repeat 3 times a week

3.Massage into the scalp and hair honey with egg yolk. Leave for a 1/2 hour, then rinse.

4.Massage almond oil on scalp 2-3 times a day, daily. This will stop further hair loss.

5.Rinse hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea to help hair grow.

Take care!
Slow it down by taking Vitamin B complex, which is my advice, but a web site I found went even further: Any nutritional deficiencies can lead to thinning hair or even total baldness. Your hair ultimately reflects the overall condition of your body.

If you are having any health problems or suffering from any nutritional deficiencies, your hair may stop growing.

Though Vitamin B complex is very important there are other vitamins to consider as well:

Beta-carotene is essential to hair growth, because it is converted to vitamin A as the body needs it, helps maintain normal growth and bone development, protective sheathing around nerve fibers, as well as promoting healthy skin, hair and nails.

Beta-carotene is found in green and yellow vegetables and fruits.

Since hair is protein a protein-rich diet it will often result in improved hair growth.

Good food sources for protein include fish, eggs, beans and yogurt. Soy protein has also been found to be helpful in stimulating hair growth.

Anyway, while genetics do obviously play a key role in a receding hairline I think it can be slowed down, so therefore the best way to deal with it is through proper nutrition. This bit is in addition to one of your other questions, which already had a lot of answers: Proper nutrition (and sleep) can also lighten dark circles under eyes, help lessen or take away emotional distress, and help you feel a lot better, and be less indecisive, and because you feel better you have more confidence. Remember too bananas are good for chasing the blues away. Best of luck.
Accept that it is happening. Change your role model to those successful (even considered sexy by many women) men who also have overcome, no, dealt with, yes, even excelled with a similar physical situation.
Ask your salonist. They'll hook you up with a product that could help.
