It's probably genetic--ask your parents and take a good look around at your relatives. You will probably see your hairline on others around you.





If you don't, maybe you are experiencing alopecia and a trip to the doctor would be in order.





But, I've a 23 year old nephew whose hair is thinning a LOT on top. I guess I think, ';Enh, it's just hair. He's a handsome guy even with thinning hair.'; He does't seem to have much trouble finding female companionship.How come i have a receding hairline and im only 17, is it genetic?
Most probably genitic but you need not worry. The hairline does recede but it does not mean you are going to get bald. I had a receding hairline when young but it hasnt turned into baldness.
Not necessarily, but it might be. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't agree with the popular belief that baldness comes from the maternal gene. I am 41 and my hairline is starting to look a lot like my father's. My maternal grandfather (before he passed away) and a maternal uncle had (and have) fuller heads of hair than I have now.
yep, I had the same problem at your age and use to worry myself sick about it...but then I met a wonderful girl who loved me for who I was, and not what my hair looked like...good luck and acceptance your gene pool...it will make it easier to live with..

look at me dude!! i had the same blessing as you did,{its not a problem,cuz bald looks good}.my father is bald,his father was bald,my mothers father was bald ,so therfore i am bald.i have the hair on the sides deal going on so i shave my head regularly now and the women love it.congrats dude!
Could be...I met my now husband when he was 17 and he had the starts of a receding hair line (just like his many uncles and grandfather) Slowly over the years it receded more and thinned out up top...He's now 27 and we have been shaving his head bald for the last coupla years..he looks MUCH better with no hair at all. Bald is sexy!
Yes it is. You get it from your Mom's side of the family. So look at your Mom's Dad to see what your hair might look like as you age.
Yes... my dad lost his hair at 21... He had a receding hairline through out his teen years... his dad is also bald, he had a receding hairline at 18 yrs old....

Yep. Male pattern baldness is pretty much all genetic; you lost out on the genetic lottery. Learn to live with as you are, or start shaving your head.
Probably genetic, but it might be because you wear hats a lot. Keep stuff like hats and bandanas off your head if you wear them a lot, it will speed the process up.
Sorry sweetie, but yes it is genetic! You can consider having hair implants, they take hair from the back of your head(that is most thick part) and place it where you need it.. Simple and from what I hear it is almost pain free! Good Luck and God Bless! Rev.Susan
