I am twenty and was born with a very unflattering hairline. I'm not sure if it has gotten worse, I think it is very possible that it has. On the bright side, my hair is very thick. Its just my hairline is really messed up. Only one of my uncles is bald. My mothers father had very fully hair throughout his life, though I am not sure if the whole ';mother's father'; theory is just an old wives tale.
If your hairline is messed/receding up will you most likely go bald early in life? Or is it possible to have some receding but not bald. Some people look great bald, but I definitely would not be one of them.Hairloss, receding hairline, and genetics?
The mother's father's appearance is a strong tendency, but it is not an absolute. If you look like him a lot, as opposed to your father, then that's a confirming item.
A receding hairline (aka widow's peaks) at a young age is not a very strong indicator of a tendency toward overall baldness. If you had that as a child, you just didn't get hair follicles there, while increasing baldness is caused by a change in the testosterone balance as you age.
If your hairline bothers you enough, you might try hair transplants to add hairs where you don't have them.
